Lythwood Field Overcast HDRI Environment Map

Lythwood Field is an equirectangular HDRI environment map providing soft, overcast natural lighting for 3D architectural renders. Captured in a wide, open grassy field, this HDRI environment map features a neutral, overcast sky that produces soft, diffused illumination across the scene. The panoramic background includes scattered trees, a distant treeline, and a subtle mountain silhouette under thick cloud cover. The lighting is low-contrast, making it ideal for creating realistic, shadow-free exterior environments. Because the light source is uniform and omnidirectional, it provides consistent ambient occlusion and soft reflections, ensuring that 3D assets placed within the scene integrate naturally without harsh highlights or sharp, directional shadows.

The download is a 5.9 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this.hdr file into your rendering engine's environment slot to define the global illumination and background plate. It is best used as a primary light source for exterior scenes requiring a cloudy, temperate aesthetic. Adjust the rotation to align the horizon with your camera view and modify the exposure settings within your render software to balance the ambient intensity with any additional artificial light sources or direct sunlight components present in your specific project configuration.

This environment is well-suited for residential architectural visualisations, landscape design proposals, and rural site studies. It provides an effective, ready-to-use backdrop for exterior renders where a calm, overcast atmosphere is required. Professionals often use this type of asset for site-context integration, pairing it with vegetation models or suburban housing projects. Search for this file when you need neutral, diffuse lighting that avoids the complexities of direct sun, allowing for clean, evenly lit presentation renders across various project stages.
