About this asset

Alte Veste Station is a high-dynamic-range environment map in.hdr format, capturing a quiet suburban rail halt under overcast sky. The environment map captures a 360-degree panoramic view of a small, quiet suburban railway station. The scene features a covered platform with a simple timber-framed canopy and a grey rendered wall, flanked by a pedestrian path and gravel tracks. A red-and-white striped metal railing runs along the track edge, providing a sharp visual contrast against the muted, neutral tones of the surroundings. The backdrop consists of distant residential houses, creating a realistic, low-density urban atmosphere. The lighting is soft and diffuse, characteristic of a heavy overcast day, which ensures minimal harsh shadows.

The download is a 6.4 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

This equirectangular.hdr file is designed for use as a global environment light source in 3D rendering software. To integrate it, load the file into the environment or world background slot of your renderer. Adjust the rotation to align the scene’s light direction with your model’s orientation. Because the lighting is overcast and diffuse, it provides excellent ambient fill for exterior scenes, reducing the need for complex light setups while ensuring realistic, soft-shadow results across your 3D assets.

Ideal for architectural visualisations requiring a realistic, low-key suburban context, this HDRI is particularly suited for transport infrastructure, residential developments, or urban planning projects. It provides a natural, neutral background that works well for renders needing a calm, overcast aesthetic. Professionals often use this when placing transit-oriented development models or exterior design proposals into a believable, everyday environment. It pairs seamlessly with urban infrastructure assets like train carriages, platform seating, or street furniture, providing consistent, high-quality ambient lighting for exterior scenes.
