About this asset

This modular 3ds Max kit provides a comprehensive collection of traditional Asian roof tiles for authentic architectural detailing. This modular kit features a variety of traditional Asian-style clay roof components, including ridge tiles, hip sections, and standard sloping roof panels. The geometry captures the distinctive semi-cylindrical profile of classic tiled roofing common in East Asian vernacular architecture. The set includes multiple lengths and corner configurations, allowing for the assembly of complex, multi-pitched roof structures. Each piece is finished in a uniform matte grey, designed to simulate weathered ceramic or stone tiles. The modular nature of the elements ensures consistent scale and alignment for custom roof designs.

The download is a 53.7 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model holding 15 separate objects, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

Users should leverage the modular nature of these components by snapping them to a grid within 3ds Max to ensure proper alignment of the curved tile profiles. These assets are best managed by grouping individual sections into larger roof assemblies, allowing for efficient material application and UV mapping across complex surfaces. Consider using instances for repetitive tile patterns to maintain performance when building large-scale traditional building envelopes or extensive historic site models.

Ideal for architectural visualization of historic, traditional, or vernacular building projects, this kit is suitable for residential developments, temple complexes, and cultural heritage sites. It integrates seamlessly into exterior scenes requiring authentic East Asian roofing details, from small garden pavilions to grand hall structures. Professionals searching for oriental architectural details or historically accurate roof components will find these modular elements essential for creating convincing, high-detail building exteriors in both urban and rural contexts.
