Contemporary Walnut Timber Slatted Room Divider Bookshelf

This contemporary walnut timber room divider bookshelf, modelled in SketchUp, features an open shelving grid and a slatted base. Constructed from rich walnut-toned timber, this freestanding unit functions as both a functional bookshelf and a decorative room divider. The design incorporates four vertical columns of open shelving, providing varied display space for small objects and books. The lower section features a distinct slatted facade, adding texture and visual depth to the piece. Its linear geometry and warm wood grain finish lend a refined, modern aesthetic to interiors. The structure is slim, designed to provide subtle separation between living or office zones without obstructing light or sightlines through the open shelf configuration.

The download is a 10 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

Users can easily integrate this unit into SketchUp projects by importing the component directly into the desired scene. The model is organised with logical geometry, allowing for simple scaling to suit varying ceiling heights or spatial requirements. Applying custom wood textures is straightforward, as the UV mapping is clean. For rendering, ensure the model is placed on a dedicated layer to manage visibility, and consider adding soft task lighting to the shelves to highlight decorative elements placed within the grid.

This piece is ideal for open-plan residential layouts, such as separating a dining area from a living room, or for creating semi-private zones within modern office spaces. It pairs effectively with mid-century or contemporary furniture, providing a sophisticated storage solution that maintains an airy feel. Designers often search for this type of item when specifying "open shelving units," "timber room dividers," or "freestanding display partitions" for high-end residential projects, boutique hotel lobbies, or executive breakout areas where spatial definition is required without enclosing the floor plan.
