Fort Pierce, United States The Associate in Science Degree in Architectural Design and Construction Technology at Indian River State College trains students in the latest methods of producing drawings for a variety of business applications. The program combines classroom instruction with lab practice, emphasizing real-life activities relevant to the building construction industry. Graduates are prepared to work as architectural draftspersons, creating construction plans for projects in architectural offices, design/development firms, general contractors, and truss manufacturing plants. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics including architectural drafting principles, materials and methods of construction, building codes, computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD), 3D visualization, construction estimating, and energy in building design. The program also offers electives in zero energy building design and sustainable building systems.
