Most portfolios lie. Not maliciously. Just selectively. We show the final render, the polished photo, the award-winning angle. We don't show the three iterations that got rejected. We don't show the site photos where the contractor had to improvise because the detail didn't work. We don't show the client feedback that changed everything. This isn't dishonesty. It's curation. But when every portfolio is curated the same way, we lose something important: the process. The decisions. The trade-offs. A portfolio that only shows success teaches nothing. A portfolio that shows the journey—even the messy parts—teaches everything. What if we started showing more of the real story?
