About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map captures an overcast urban street, providing soft, natural lighting for 3D renderings. The environment map features a realistic, high-fidelity capture of a typical residential street scene under a diffused, overcast sky. The composition includes mature deciduous trees lining the pavement, parked vehicles along the kerb, and traditional brick-built residential architecture in the background. The asphalt road surface provides a neutral base, while the lack of harsh direct sunlight ensures soft, even shadows across the entire dome. This balanced lighting condition makes it ideal for architectural visualization projects requiring a natural, overcast aesthetic without the complications of intense directional highlights or deep, high-contrast shadows.

The download is a 7 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To utilize this HDRI map, load the file into the environment or background slot of your preferred rendering engine. Adjust the rotation to align the street perspective with your 3D model's camera view. Because the map provides full-sphere coverage, it will naturally influence the diffuse and specular reflections on your materials. For optimal results, use the map as the primary light source to ensure consistent, soft illumination that matches the overcast sky captured in the original panorama.

This environment is well-suited for residential architectural visualization projects, particularly those set in urban or suburban contexts. It pairs effectively with exterior renders of townhouses, apartment blocks, or street-level building studies. Professionals will find this useful for achieving realistic, soft-lit exterior scenes during the concept or final presentation stages. Use this asset when your project requires a neutral, overcast atmosphere that emphasizes material detail and architectural form over dramatic lighting effects, common in temperate climate urban design presentations.
