Modern Black Steel Fireplace with Integrated Log Storage

This modern black steel fireplace is a SketchUp model featuring an integrated wood storage niche and a glass-fronted firebox. This contemporary fireplace unit is defined by its clean, minimalist aesthetic, featuring a matte black steel surround that frames a large, glass-fronted firebox. The design incorporates vertical, full-height storage niches on either side of the hearth, specifically intended for stacking logs. The contrast between the dark, industrial steel frame and the warm, textured natural wood logs creates a balanced visual focal point. The firebox is equipped with a simple, vertical handle, suggesting a side-swing door mechanism, while the base sits flush with the floor, providing a seamless transition into the room.

The download is a 27.3 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

When integrating this model into a SketchUp project, place the fireplace as a single component to maintain file organisation. The geometry is clean, allowing for easy material overrides if a different metallic finish or custom stone cladding is required for the surround. Use the native layers to separate the firebox, the logs, and the structural frame, which assists in managing poly counts during rendering. Ensure the unit is properly snapped to your wall plane to avoid light leaks behind the casing.

This piece is well-suited for high-end residential living rooms, hotel lobbies, and boutique hospitality spaces where a sophisticated, warm atmosphere is desired. It pairs effectively with minimalist interiors, industrial-style lofts, or warm, textured lounge areas. Architects and interior designers often search for this type of unit when specifying feature walls, hearths, or luxury focal points for open-plan living environments. It serves as an essential asset for creating realistic, inviting visualisations of fireplace designs in contemporary interior schemes during the design development stage.
