About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides soft, overcast midday lighting for architectural rendering and visualisations. The environment map captures a panoramic view of a grassy, undulating hillside under a uniform, overcast sky. The scene is anchored by a stone memorial cross situated on a small rise, surrounded by low-lying scrub and distant treelines. The lighting is diffuse and neutral, characteristic of a cloudy day, which eliminates harsh shadows and provides balanced illumination across any 3D scene. This HDR file delivers consistent, realistic ambient light, suitable for projects requiring natural, non-directional lighting conditions that integrate seamlessly with foreground assets placed within the virtual environment.

The download is a 6.5 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this environment map, load the.hdr file into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because it is an equirectangular projection, it will map correctly onto a spherical skybox without distortion. Adjust the exposure or intensity values within your software to match the light levels of your main subject. This map is ideal for providing realistic reflections and diffuse global illumination in exterior scenes where soft, natural light is required.

This HDRI is well-suited for exterior architectural visualisations, landscape design presentations, and site analysis renderings. It works effectively for projects located in rural or semi-natural settings where a neutral, overcast atmosphere is desired to avoid distracting shadows. Professionals often use this type of environment map for masterplanning or when testing material finishes under soft, diffuse daylight. It pairs well with vegetation libraries and terrain models, providing a cohesive backdrop for site-specific studies or conceptual visualisations requiring a realistic, naturalistic outdoor lighting environment.
