Residential Garden Overcast HDRI Environment Map

This equirectangular HDR environment map provides soft, diffuse overcast lighting for architectural renders of residential courtyards. The environment features a central open grass courtyard surrounded by multi-story residential apartment blocks. A prominent white timber-framed pavilion with a grey metal roof and stone table seating serves as the focal point. The scene is captured under a uniform, overcast sky, resulting in soft, low-contrast natural light and minimal hard shadows. The architectural style of the surrounding buildings is contemporary, featuring neutral grey and white facades. The vegetation is lush and well-maintained, with potted plants and structured garden beds integrated into the concrete landscaping elements of the complex.

The download is a 6.2 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this.hdr file into the environment or background slot of your rendering engine to provide realistic, image-based lighting and reflections. Because the lighting is overcast and diffuse, it is ideal for achieving clean, shadow-softened architectural exterior shots. Adjust the rotation to align the pavilion with your camera view, and use the exposure settings within your software to balance the global illumination against your artificial lights or interior emissive materials in the scene.

This HDRI is suited for exterior visualisations of residential projects, multi-family housing developments, and urban landscape designs. It provides a neutral, balanced lighting base for architectural competitions or client presentations where a calm, overcast atmosphere is required. Professionals will find it useful for placing 3D models of outdoor furniture, landscaping proposals, or building massing studies into a realistic context. It pairs effectively with scenes requiring soft, natural daylighting and works well for projects targeting a clean, modern aesthetic in residential environments.
