About this asset

Night Sky HDRI 004 is a 2K high-dynamic-range environment map featuring a vibrant aurora borealis, ideal for atmospheric night lighting. This 2K high-dynamic-range image provides a celestial night environment, dominated by deep blues and purples with a distinct aurora borealis effect. The map is designed to provide comprehensive 360-degree illumination for 3D scenes, ensuring that reflections on metallic or glossy surfaces remain physically accurate to the light source. The composition captures a starlit horizon, offering a realistic, moody aesthetic without the need for complex artificial lighting rigs. Its balanced exposure ensures that the subtle colours of the nebula-like sky contribute to the overall ambient light of any rendered project.

The download is an 8.4 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment or world lighting slot of your preferred rendering engine. Because it contains high-dynamic-range data, it will automatically handle both scene illumination and background reflections. Adjust the exposure or intensity settings within your software to match the desired brightness of your scene, and rotate the map to align the aurora glow with the primary camera view for optimal composition and lighting balance.

This environment map is suited for exterior architectural visualizations, night-time hospitality scenes, and high-end residential renders where a dramatic, atmospheric sky is required. It pairs effectively with landscape architecture, modern glass-fronted buildings, and exterior deck or pool designs. Professionals searching for celestial lighting, night-time environment maps, or atmospheric sky backgrounds will find this asset useful for creating realistic, moody nighttime renders. It is especially effective in projects requiring a sense of scale and wonder, such as luxury mountain retreats or remote desert resorts.
