About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides soft, diffused overcast morning lighting for realistic outdoor architectural renders. The environment map captures a flat, rural landscape dominated by a gravel farm track cutting through ploughed fields. The atmosphere is defined by a heavy, uniform fog that eliminates harsh shadows and creates a low-contrast, muted colour palette of earthy browns, desaturated greens, and soft greys. The sky is entirely obscured by thick cloud cover, resulting in perfectly diffuse, omnidirectional illumination. This asset is ideal for projects requiring a calm, melancholic, or early-morning aesthetic where natural, soft light is essential for realistic material reflections and gentle environmental shadows.

The download is a 5.8 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this high-dynamic-range image into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because the lighting is inherently diffuse and overcast, it requires minimal adjustment for exposure. Use it as the primary light source to achieve soft, natural contact shadows and realistic ambient occlusion in outdoor scenes. For increased control, rotate the map along the horizontal axis to align the path with your camera perspective and adjust the intensity to match the desired time of day.

This HDRI is suited for residential exterior visualisations, rural development projects, or landscape design renderings where a natural, muted setting is required. It pairs effectively with modern farmhouse architecture or traditional rural dwellings, providing a neutral backdrop that does not distract from the primary building form. Professionals often search for this type of asset when needing consistent, overcast lighting conditions for exterior daylight studies or to create a specific, atmospheric mood in their 3D environment without the complexity of direct sunlight.
