About this asset

This Kloofendal Misty Morning HDRI environment map provides soft, diffused natural lighting for 3D renderings in.hdr format. The Kloofendal Misty Morning HDRI captures the subtle, low-contrast atmosphere of an overcast dawn. It features a uniform, cool-toned sky with gentle light diffusion, eliminating harsh shadows and providing a neutral, soft ambient fill. The equirectangular projection ensures seamless coverage across the entire spherical environment, making it ideal for scenes requiring natural, non-directional illumination. This high dynamic range map preserves the soft luminance of a misty morning, allowing for realistic light interaction with materials and surfaces in both interior and exterior architectural visualisation projects without the complexity of sharp sun-based light sources.

The download is a 2.8 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine, such as V-Ray, Corona, or Octane. Adjust the exposure and white balance settings within your software to fine-tune the intensity of the diffused light. Because the map provides an even, omnidirectional light source, it performs best when paired with additional artificial lighting for interior scenes or as a background plate for soft, atmospheric exterior renders.

This environment map is suitable for architectural visualisations that require a calm, muted, or overcast aesthetic, such as residential interiors or serene landscape scenes. It pairs effectively with minimalist or contemporary design styles where soft shadow transitions are preferred. Professionals use this asset to simulate early morning or cloudy day conditions in projects where natural, non-intrusive lighting is essential for creating depth and mood. It is particularly useful for establishing a consistent, neutral base for complex architectural scenes before adding specific task or accent lighting.
