Kloofendal 28d Misty HDRI Environment Map

Kloofendal 28d Misty is a 2K HDRI environment map providing soft, diffused morning sunlight for realistic outdoor scene illumination. This HDRI captures a misty, atmospheric morning on a rocky, arid hilltop. The environment features a soft, diffused sunlight filtered through heavy fog, which creates a low-contrast, cool-toned lighting profile. The ground plane is composed of scattered natural stones and sparse, low-lying vegetation typical of a rugged, untamed landscape. The sky is largely obscured by a thick, uniform mist that provides even, omnidirectional light, making it ideal for rendering scenes where harsh shadows are undesirable and a moody, overcast aesthetic is required for architectural or landscape visualizations.

The download is a 5.9 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the.hdr file into the environment or background slot of your rendering engine's light settings. Because the map provides 360-degree illumination, it will act as the primary light source for your scene. Adjust the exposure or intensity values within your software to balance the light output against your project's specific camera settings. It is recommended to use the map in conjunction with an additional sun light object if sharper, more directional highlights are needed to define specific architectural forms.

This environment map is well-suited for exterior visualization projects involving rugged landscapes, rural residential developments, or park designs where a soft, atmospheric, or early-morning aesthetic is desired. It pairs effectively with natural materials like stone, timber, and exposed concrete, helping to integrate 3D models into a realistic, foggy outdoor context. Professionals working on landscape architecture or environmental design will find it useful for creating moody, naturalistic lighting conditions that avoid the harsh, high-contrast look of direct midday sun.
