About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map features a clear mid-morning sun over a rocky mountain valley with high-contrast light. The environment map captures a wide, panoramic view of a rugged, arid mountain valley under a bright, cloudless sky. The foreground is dominated by textured, weathered stone and sparse, low-lying scrub vegetation, providing realistic ground detail for 3D scenes. The middle and background reveal rolling hills and distant mountainous horizons, creating a natural sense of scale. The lighting is characteristic of mid-morning, with the sun positioned high, casting sharp, defined shadows across the rocky terrain. The colour palette is defined by earthy brown and tan tones contrasted against a deep, clear blue sky.

The download is a 5.8 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment or world background slot of your 3D rendering engine. Ensure the mapping is set to spherical or equirectangular to maintain correct projection. Adjust the exposure or intensity values within your software to balance the high-contrast lighting provided by the sun position. For optimal results, align the rotation of the map to match the desired sun direction in your scene to ensure consistent shadow casting and realistic ambient lighting reflections on your materials.

This environment map is suitable for exterior architectural visualisations, landscape design projects, and cinematic background plates. It works effectively for scenes requiring bright, natural sunlight, such as residential developments in arid climates or large-scale masterplan renders. Professionals looking for high-contrast, midday lighting conditions will find this asset useful for establishing a clear, sunny atmosphere. It pairs well with outdoor furniture, structural models, or site-specific architecture that requires a realistic, high-fidelity horizon line and natural sun-driven illumination for convincing global lighting setups.
