About this asset

Joburg Central Sunset is a 2K equirectangular HDRI environment map featuring a low-contrast urban rooftop view at dusk. This HDRI environment map captures an expansive, 360-degree panoramic view from a high-rise rooftop in Johannesburg. The scene is set during the golden hour transitioning into twilight, characterized by a soft, diffused light palette. Above the dense, multi-story building skyline, the sky displays a gentle gradient of cool blues and greys, punctuated by subtle pink hues in the cloud formations. The composition provides a balanced, low-contrast illumination suitable for architectural rendering, ensuring that the light distribution across the scene remains natural and avoids harsh, overexposed highlights typical of midday sun captures.

The download is a 5.8 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

This file is provided in the industry-standard.hdr format, making it compatible with all major 3D rendering engines and viewport lighting systems. Users can load this map directly into the environment slot of their software to provide both global illumination and high-dynamic-range reflections for their scenes. The 2K resolution is optimized for efficient memory usage while maintaining sufficient detail for background environments, reflections, and soft ambient fill lighting in exterior or interior architectural visualisations.

Ideal for urban architectural visualisations, this environment map provides a realistic backdrop for high-rise residential and commercial project renders. It is particularly effective for scenes requiring a calm, evening atmosphere or a dusk-time transition. Professionals working on city-focused developments, mixed-use complexes, or rooftop amenity spaces will find the muted, natural lighting profile useful for integrating 3D models into a believable metropolitan context. It pairs well with modern glass-facade structures and concrete building materials where subtle reflections of an urban skyline are required.
