About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic overcast interior lighting for architectural visualisation projects. Captured within a historic stone cloister, this environment map features a series of classic arched bays and vaulted ceilings. The lighting profile is defined by soft, diffused daylight entering through large, tracery-style windows, which creates subtle, low-contrast shadows across the stone floor and walls. The panorama captures the full 360-degree interior space, preserving the texture of the masonry and the architectural rhythm of the passage. The neutral, warm-toned illumination is ideal for rendering interiors that require a natural, calm atmosphere without harsh direct sunlight or high-intensity highlights.

The download is a 6.3 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this high-dynamic-range file into your rendering engine's environment slot to establish global illumination and ambient reflections. Because the map contains real-world light data, it will automatically influence the material properties of your scene, particularly for reflective surfaces like glass or polished stone. Adjust the exposure and rotation settings within your software to align the primary light source with your project’s geometry, ensuring that the soft, overcast shadows match your intended architectural orientation and composition.

This environment map is suitable for historical renovation projects, academic institutional spaces, or luxury hospitality interiors that require soft, diffused light. It works exceptionally well in scenes featuring stone masonry, vaulted ceilings, or traditional architectural details. Professionals looking to achieve a serene, authentic mood in their renders will find this asset useful for both still visualisations and animation sequences. It pairs seamlessly with projects requiring a heritage aesthetic, such as museums, chapels, or restored manor houses, providing a sophisticated, natural lighting foundation.
