About this asset

This 2K HDR equirectangular environment map captures the interior of the Graaff Reinet Groote Kerk, providing balanced lighting. The environment map features the expansive interior of a historic church, defined by its intricate timber-trussed roof and extensive wooden pews. The scene is anchored by deep red carpeting that contrasts with the warm, honey-toned wood of the structural elements and seating. White plaster walls and high-set windows provide soft, diffuse daylight, while the overall composition retains a balanced contrast suitable for architectural visualisation. Every structural detail, from the gallery railings to the pulpit area, is captured in a full 360-degree equirectangular projection, ensuring consistent reflections and ambient lighting across your 3D scenes.

The download is a 6.3 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into your preferred renderer's environment or world lighting slot. Adjust the exposure settings to calibrate the light intensity against your scene geometry. Because this map contains both natural window light and ambient interior tones, it serves as a primary light source for interior shots. For optimal results, ensure your project's gamma settings are correctly configured for.hdr files to maintain the integrity of the highlights and shadows.

This environment map is ideal for high-end architectural visualisations focusing on religious or historic building interiors. It provides a ready-made, atmospheric backdrop for projects requiring a sense of scale, traditional craftsmanship, and warm, inviting lighting. Professionals can use this asset to quickly populate the background of a render or as the primary lighting source for interior design concepts. It pairs effectively with models of period furniture or modern interventions within historic shells, offering a realistic, high-quality lighting foundation for any commercial or residential project.
