About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic sunset lighting for industrial scenes using a freight yard backdrop. The environment captures a wide, expansive freight station at sunset, featuring a clear view of an industrial yard with large gantry cranes and parked rail carriages. The lighting is dominated by a warm, low-angle sun casting soft shadows across the gravel ground plane. The sky is partially covered with thin, scattered clouds, creating a natural, medium-contrast light distribution suitable for exterior visualisations. The composition is balanced, offering a 360-degree panoramic view that captures the authentic, weathered textures of a working rail facility, including rust-toned metal structures and sparse, dried vegetation typical of such environments.

The download is a 6.2 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this.hdr file directly into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because it is an equirectangular projection, it will map correctly onto the background sphere without distortion. Adjust the exposure and rotation settings to align the sun position with your 3D geometry for consistent shadow direction. It is compatible with all major path-tracing engines that support high-dynamic-range image-based lighting, providing both the background plate and the primary light source for your model.

This asset is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, industrial design projects, or transport-related conceptual work. It pairs effectively with heavy machinery, train models, or large-scale civil engineering structures where a gritty, realistic outdoor context is required. Professionals often search for this type of environment when needing specific golden hour lighting conditions for site-specific studies or cinematic rendering. Its neutral, expansive composition makes it a versatile choice for scenes requiring a sense of scale and authentic industrial atmosphere in both residential and commercial projects.
