About this asset

This 2K HDRI environment map provides realistic midday lighting and reflections for 3D scenes, captured on an urban rooftop. This high-dynamic-range image captures a bright, clear-sky day from an elevated parking deck. The environment features a wide, expansive view of an urban landscape, including distant buildings and construction cranes. The lighting is consistent with a high-sun position, casting sharp, defined shadows across the scene. The inclusion of chrome, matte white, and blue reference spheres in the capture allows for precise calibration of reflections, diffuse lighting, and colour accuracy within a 3D rendering engine. The overall atmosphere is neutral, bright, and suitable for general-purpose architectural exterior lighting.

The download is an 8.6 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment or background slot of your rendering software. It functions as a singular light source, providing both diffuse illumination and crisp specular reflections for materials. Adjust the exposure and rotation parameters to align the sun position with your model's orientation. For best results, use this map in conjunction with your renderer's primary light settings to ensure the background plate matches the intensity of the scene's global illumination.

This environment map is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, especially those featuring urban contexts, mixed-use developments, or industrial projects. It works effectively for daylight scenes where a clean, bright atmosphere is required. Designers often use such assets to place models within parking structures, rooftop terraces, or open-air city environments. It pairs well with modern building designs, glass-heavy facades, and automotive renders, providing authentic environmental context and high-quality reflection data for metallic and reflective surfaces in professional architectural projects.
