About this asset

Day Environment HDRI 045 is a 2K high-dynamic-range environment map featuring an overcast urban plaza for realistic scene lighting. This 2K high-dynamic-range map captures the ambient light and visual environment of a paved urban plaza under an overcast sky. The composition includes mature trees, perimeter metal fencing, and a multi-story residential building in the background. The lighting data provided is neutral and soft, characteristic of a cloudy day, which prevents harsh shadows and provides natural, diffused illumination for architectural visualisations. The file ensures that reflections on glass, metal, and polished surfaces remain consistent with the surrounding environment, maintaining high visual fidelity across various rendering engines and complex geometry.

The download is a 9.8 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because it contains high-dynamic-range data, it functions as the primary light source for the scene. No secondary light rigs are required to achieve balanced, realistic illumination. Ensure the gamma and exposure settings are adjusted to match your scene's scale, and use the map to drive reflections on materials to unify the lighting and the environment seamlessly.

This environment map is ideal for exterior architectural renders that require a realistic, overcast daylight setting. It works well for residential projects, public plazas, and park design visualisations where soft, diffused lighting is desired. Professionals often use this to provide a context-aware background that grounds building models in a believable urban environment. It pairs effectively with both modern and traditional architectural styles, providing a neutral backdrop that highlights material textures without the distraction of intense direct sunlight or high-contrast shadows.
