About this asset

This 2K HDRI environment map provides natural overcast daylight and realistic reflections for architectural visualization projects. Captured in a tranquil, natural setting, this HDRI environment map features a lush, tree-lined riverbank under a soft, overcast sky. The image provides a balanced, diffuse light quality typical of an overcast day, which is essential for achieving realistic ambient occlusion and soft shadows in exterior renders. The spherical projection includes full 360-degree coverage, with detailed reflections of the surrounding vegetation, a distant stone bridge, and the water surface. This map is suitable for grounding architectural models in a natural, serene environment without the harshness of direct sunlight.

The download is a 12.4 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this map, load the file into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because it is a high-dynamic-range image, it will automatically provide both the primary light source and the background reflections for your scene. Adjust the rotation to align the light direction with your project's orientation and fine-tune the exposure intensity to match your scene's scale, ensuring that the reflections on metallic or glass surfaces remain physically accurate and coherent.

This environment is ideal for exterior visualisations of residential projects, garden designs, or park landscapes where a soft, diffused lighting aesthetic is required. It pairs effectively with natural materials like timber, stone, and concrete, helping to integrate 3D models into a realistic, outdoor context. Professionals working on architectural competitions or client presentations will find this useful for creating consistent, high-quality lighting setups that avoid the complexities of manual light rigs, providing a quick and reliable solution for overcast weather conditions.
