About this asset

This sunrise HDRI environment map provides soft, natural lighting for 3D scenes, featuring a balanced sky with thin clouds. Captured during the soft light of sunrise, this equirectangular HDR environment map offers a low-contrast, atmospheric backdrop. The sky transitions from a cool, misty blue horizon to a warmer, subtle glow where the sun breaks through thin cloud cover. The lighting profile is diffuse and gentle, avoiding harsh shadows while providing enough directional nuance to ground architectural objects effectively. It is designed to provide realistic, ambient illumination for exterior or semi-outdoor visualisations, ensuring natural light distribution that complements a wide range of materials and architectural forms without overwhelming the scene with intense highlights.

The download is a 4.7 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the rotation to align the brightest sun-break with your model's primary light direction. Since this map provides a soft, diffuse light, it is ideal for quick lighting setups where a natural, overcast-leaning morning mood is required. You can scale the intensity to suit your scene's exposure requirements, ensuring that reflections on glass and metallic surfaces remain subtle and physically plausible.

This environment map is well-suited for residential projects, garden designs, and hospitality exteriors where a tranquil, early-morning atmosphere is desired. It pairs effectively with scenes featuring vegetation, timber cladding, or light-coloured stone, helping to soften the overall visual impact. Architects and visualisers often use this type of asset for project stages ranging from conceptual massing to final high-end renders, specifically when the goal is to evoke a calm, serene mood that feels grounded in a natural, morning environment.
