About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic overcast forest lighting for 3D scenes in a 2K resolution format. The environment map captures a dense woodland scene during autumn, characterized by a thick carpet of fallen yellow and brown leaves. Tall, slender deciduous trees dominate the mid-ground, framing a central mossy rock formation that acts as a focal point. The sky is uniformly overcast, resulting in soft, diffuse, and shadowless lighting conditions that are ideal for naturalistic exterior rendering. The composition provides a 360-degree panorama, ensuring seamless reflections and consistent illumination across all camera angles when applied to a global environment slot in a 3D rendering engine.

The download is a 7.2 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Professionals use this 2K HDR file by loading it directly into the environment or background slot of a renderer. It functions as both a light source and a background plate, providing high dynamic range data for realistic global illumination. To adjust the intensity, use the exposure or gamma controls within the host software's environment settings. For optimal results, ensure the mapping type is set to spherical or equirectangular to maintain correct orientation and avoid distortion in reflections.

This asset is suitable for architectural visualization projects requiring natural, diffuse lighting for exterior forest scenes or park environments. It pairs well with landscape design, nature-focused residential developments, or environmental storytelling within game engines and film production. Designers searching for soft, ambient light conditions for outdoor renders will find this map useful for achieving authentic, non-directional illumination. It is effective for establishing a seasonal, temperate climate atmosphere without the complexity of sharp, direct sunlight, making it a versatile tool for varied outdoor visualization needs.
