This line-based Revit detail component family generates a repeating X-braced void pattern for structural or technical documentation. The Repeating Void Box is a 2D parametric detail component designed for Revit projects requiring symbolic representation of structural trusses or repetitive bracing systems. It consists of a linear array of rectangular frames, each subdivided by diagonal cross-bracing lines. The family is built on a line-based host, allowing the user to stretch the component across a specified span to automatically calculate and populate the correct number of repeating void modules. The graphic style is strictly technical, utilising standard line weights to ensure clarity when plotted on construction documentation sheets and structural framing plans.
The download is a 266 KB file containing a Revit family (.rfa). Load it into a project from the Insert tab with Load Family, then place it like any other component of its category; it schedules and tags with the rest of your model.
Load this RFA file into your project and use the detail component tool to draw the line between two points. The family will automatically snap and repeat the bracing pattern based on the length of the drawn line. Adjust the instance parameters to control spacing or module size if required. Since this is a pure 2D annotation, it will not appear in 3D views, making it ideal for clean, lightweight 2D drafting without adding unnecessary geometry to the model.
Architects and structural engineers will find this component useful for detailing truss layouts, bracing diagrams, or symbolic representations of open-web structural members on section and elevation drawings. It is particularly effective for large-scale construction document sets where clean, consistent graphic symbols are essential for clarity. Place it alongside standard structural framing families to denote specific bracing types or to represent simplified structural voids in complex wall or ceiling assemblies where full 3D modelling of the bracing is not required for the final output.
