About this asset

This potted Japanese Maple tree for SketchUp features a delicate, multi-stemmed structure with light green, finely textured leaves. This asset depicts a mature Japanese Maple, or Acer palmatum, cultivated in a simple, cylindrical floor planter. The tree exhibits a naturalistic, asymmetrical branching habit typical of the species, with slender stems supporting a light, airy canopy of serrated foliage. The colour palette is dominated by vibrant, fresh greens, providing a high-contrast visual against the dark, neutral finish of the container. The scale is appropriate for interior placement, capturing the characteristic grace of the plant without overwhelming the space. The base of the planter is filled with a textured soil-like substrate.

The download is a 7.8 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

In SketchUp, this component is best handled by placing it on a dedicated layer or tag to manage scene complexity. As a high-detail foliage asset, consider using proxy objects if your project contains multiple instances to maintain viewport performance. Adjust the material mapping if necessary to ensure the leaf transparency renders correctly in your chosen engine. Proper placement should account for light sources, as the density of the canopy will significantly affect the soft, dappled shadows cast on surrounding surfaces.

This plant is ideal for adding organic warmth to minimalist, contemporary, or Japanese-inspired interiors. It functions effectively as a focal point in residential living rooms, hotel lobbies, or office reception areas where a touch of nature is required. Architects and interior designers often use such assets to soften hard architectural lines, pairing them with stone, timber, or concrete finishes. Search for this model when looking for refined botanical elements to populate architectural visualisations or to enhance the biophilic quality of a project.
