Scandinavian Natural Wood Armchair with Curved Backrest

This Scandinavian-style armchair is a SketchUp model featuring a natural wood frame with a distinctive curved, wrap-around backrest. Defined by its organic silhouette, this armchair showcases a seamless blend of form and function. The construction features a solid wood frame with tapered legs and a continuous, curved backrest that flows into short armrests. A slightly contoured seat provides comfort while maintaining a slim, lightweight profile. The joinery is clean and precise, highlighting the natural grain and warm tones of the timber. Its proportions are compact, making it an ideal choice for spaces where floor area is at a premium but aesthetic quality remains a priority for the interior scheme.

The download is a 4.8 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

In SketchUp, this component is structured with nested groups for easy manipulation. Users should ensure the model is placed on a dedicated layer for furniture to maintain scene organisation. Because the geometry relies on subtle curves, applying materials to the faces is straightforward; simply use the paint bucket tool to adjust the wood grain orientation or apply custom textures. For high-end visualisations, verify that the face normals are correctly oriented before applying rendering materials to ensure light interacts accurately with the curved surfaces.

This piece is well-suited for residential dining rooms, boutique café interiors, or as an accent chair in a minimalist home office. It pairs effectively with round or rectangular timber dining tables and can be grouped to create a cohesive seating arrangement. Professionals often search for this type of asset when specifying sustainable, wood-based furniture for contemporary hospitality projects or light-filled, airy living spaces. Its versatile design allows it to sit comfortably within both modern and mid-century inspired interior design concepts.
