About this asset

This Japanese style altar cabinet for SketchUp features intricate slatted timber detailing and a clean, vertical form in natural wood. This tall altar cabinet exhibits a refined Japanese aesthetic, constructed from light-toned natural wood. The upper section is defined by a delicate slatted screen, creating a semi-transparent enclosure for ritual objects. A central shelf provides a platform for display, while the lower portion consists of a closed cupboard with a simple circular handle for discreet storage. The frame is linear and minimalist, emphasising geometric clarity and verticality. Its construction highlights the natural grain of the timber, lending a warm, serene quality suitable for traditional or contemporary domestic prayer spaces.

The download is a 7.2 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

Within SketchUp, this model is organised into logical groups, allowing for easy selection and placement. The timber textures are applied with consistent UV mapping, ready for further refinement in your preferred render engine. Users should utilise the component structure to manage the cabinet's visibility or to adjust materials globally. Ensure the model is placed on a separate layer to maintain scene organisation, and use standard scaling tools to integrate it seamlessly into your interior design project files.

Ideal for residential interior design, this altar cabinet is suitable for dedicated prayer rooms, meditation spaces, or minimalist living areas. It pairs well with other Japanese or wabi-sabi furniture, such as low floor seating, tatami mats, or simple timber side tables. Professionals searching for cultural furniture, ritual storage, or Japanese-inspired cabinetry will find this asset a versatile addition to their library. It is particularly useful for projects requiring a sense of calm, order, and cultural specificity in modern home design.
