About this asset

This contemporary grey rectangular shaggy fabric rug is a detailed SketchUp model featuring a high-pile texture for interior spaces. This rectangular area rug is defined by its deep, shaggy pile, providing a soft and tactile appearance suitable for various interior settings. The surface features a uniform grey tone, rendered with a dense texture that suggests a thick, comfortable fabric construction. Its proportions are standard for a living room or bedroom rug, designed to sit flush against floor surfaces. The edges are finished with a realistic, slightly irregular fringe effect that mimics the natural look of high-pile textiles, ensuring the piece integrates seamlessly into a variety of contemporary design schemes without appearing overly rigid.

The download is a 49.8 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

When incorporating this rug into a SketchUp scene, place it directly onto the floor plane to avoid clipping. The model is scaled for standard residential use; however, users can adjust the dimensions using the scale tool to suit specific room layouts. To enhance realism, apply a slight displacement or bump map to the texture to emphasize the shaggy depth. Keep the component on a dedicated 'soft furnishings' or 'flooring' layer to maintain model organization and manage visibility during the design process.

This versatile rug is an essential asset for residential projects, particularly in living rooms, bedrooms, or cozy lounge areas. It pairs well with minimalist and contemporary furniture, providing a soft contrast to hard surfaces like timber or stone flooring. Designers often search for this type of floor covering when styling interior visualizations for apartments or boutique hotel suites. It effectively adds warmth and visual interest to a space, making it a go-to element for creating a comfortable, lived-in aesthetic in any architectural rendering.
