About this asset

This contemporary 3ds Max armchair features a distinctive shell-back design with vertical channel tufting and a metallic frame. Defined by its organic, semi-circular silhouette, this armchair mimics the form of a shell, with a deep, rounded backrest that wraps around the user. The upholstery consists of a textured, off-white fabric with pronounced vertical channel stitching that runs continuously from the top edge down to the seat base. The seat is generously padded, providing a soft, plush aesthetic that contrasts with the slender, minimalist metal frame visible at the rear and sides. Its proportions are compact yet comfortable, making it a sculptural addition to any interior space requiring a focal point.

The download is a 5.8 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

Within 3ds Max, this model is typically handled as a single editable mesh or poly object. The fabric texture is mapped to take advantage of standard tiling, allowing for easy adjustment of the scale or colour tinting if required. The model includes separate material IDs for the upholstery and the metal frame, facilitating quick adjustments to the finish. Users should ensure the pivot point is set to the base for easy placement on floor planes within the scene hierarchy.

This armchair is ideal for residential lounge areas, boutique hotel lobbies, or contemporary bedroom suites where a soft, organic shape is desired. It pairs effectively with modern low-profile coffee tables or as a standalone accent piece in a reading corner. Designers often search for this type of seating when specifying furniture for high-end residential projects or hospitality fit-outs that lean towards a tactile, comfortable aesthetic. It complements neutral palettes and works well alongside minimalist or mid-century modern furniture arrangements in various interior design schemes.
