Contemporary Grey Wood and Black Metal Display Cabinet

This contemporary 3ds Max display cabinet features a grey wood-grain finish and a black metal open-shelving core for curated storage. Designed as a large-scale wall unit, this storage piece balances solid timber-clad doors with a recessed, architectural open-shelving system. The outer sections consist of two vertical storage columns on each side, finished in a textured grey wood veneer. The central section is entirely open, structured with a grid of black metal shelves that vary in compartment size to accommodate diverse objects. This contrast between the warm, tactile wood and the precise, dark metal frame gives the unit a clean, modern aesthetic suitable for high-end residential interiors or boutique hospitality projects.

The download is a 10.3 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

In 3ds Max, this model is structured with distinct material IDs for the wood and metal components, allowing for easy texture swapping or colour adjustments. Professionals can treat the unit as a single block for placement, or detach the central shelving grid if the design requires customisation. The model is scaled for real-world proportions, making it straightforward to snap against wall planes. Users should ensure the pivot point is set to the base for accurate floor-level alignment and easy integration into room layouts.

This display cabinet is ideal for luxury living rooms, dining areas, or home bars where a sophisticated focal point is required. It pairs well with minimalist decor, serving as a functional backdrop for glassware, books, or curated decorative items. Architects and interior designers often search for this type of bespoke-style joinery when planning custom wall storage or feature walls in high-end projects. It is a versatile asset for staging residential floor plans and professional interior visualisations that demand a clean, organised aesthetic.
