About this asset

This contemporary matte black fireplace surround SketchUp model features a classic stepped mantle profile and clean architectural lines. This fireplace surround features a striking matte black finish with a formal, stepped mantle design. The structure includes vertical fluted detailing on the side pilasters, providing a rhythmic texture that contrasts with the smooth, flat surfaces of the header. The arched firebox opening is framed by a recessed moulding, creating a sense of depth and focus on the hearth area. Its proportions are balanced for standard residential applications, offering a clean, modern aesthetic that anchors a living room wall. The model includes the surround structure as a single cohesive unit.

The download is a 77.4 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

In SketchUp, this component is best managed by placing it against a wall surface using the back-face origin for precise alignment. Use the scale tool to adjust the width and height to fit specific room dimensions, and ensure the fireplace insert is grouped separately for easy material application or swapping. For high-quality visualisations, apply a matte black material with low reflection settings to maintain the intended aesthetic, and utilise hidden geometry to clean up the arch segments for smoother render output.

This fireplace surround is ideal for high-end residential living rooms, boutique hotel lounges, or formal reception areas where a bold, monochromatic focal point is required. It pairs well with gold-toned wall decor, such as sunburst mirrors, or minimalist art pieces to create a sophisticated contrast. Professionals searching for fireplace mantels, modern hearth surrounds, or feature wall elements will find this model useful during the design development stage when establishing the character of a space through refined, architectural detailing.
