Flat sites are mostly just a trap for lazy design. Without a difficult grade or a stubborn drainage issue to fight, you usually end up with a building that has no reason to exist exactly where it is.

That point about a building needing a reason to exist exactly where it is resonates. I find that my scripts always produce more honest results when there's a stubborn slope to solve for.

Spot on. On a dead-flat lot here, I find myself obsessing over the finish floor elevation just to ensure the building actually feels anchored to the sand rather than just parked on it.
