Completely agree. Unhoned stone and rough lime absorb harsh midday light instead of bouncing glare everywhere, which quietly does half the work of calming a space.

An unsealed ironbark post we put on a Carlton verandah years ago has silvered down so quietly against the old brick. Materials that know how to age carry a weight you just can't manufacture.
