About this asset

This equirectangular HDR environment map provides high-dynamic-range lighting for 3D scenes, featuring a rocky mountain plateau. The environment map captures a panoramic view from a rocky, uneven mountain plateau during the golden hour. The landscape is dominated by weathered grey stone boulders interspersed with hardy, low-lying scrub vegetation. In the distance, a hazy coastline and city sprawl are visible under a partly cloudy sky. The lighting is warm and directional, typical of a low sun position, which casts soft, elongated shadows across the rugged terrain. This 2K resolution file retains the natural contrast and tonal range of the original location, providing realistic ambient light and reflections for exterior renders.

The download is a 6.2 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDR file, load it into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the rotation to align the sun with your scene's primary light source for consistent shadows. Since the file contains high-dynamic-range data, it will automatically influence the global illumination and reflection intensities of your materials. For optimal results, ensure your render settings are configured to use the map for both background visibility and indirect lighting calculations to achieve natural, balanced lighting.

This environment map is suitable for exterior architectural visualisations, landscape design projects, and automotive renders requiring a natural, elevated setting. It pairs effectively with scenes that demand a rugged, high-altitude aesthetic, such as remote holiday retreats or dramatic mountain-side residential developments. Professionals searching for natural outdoor lighting solutions, panoramic environment backdrops, or realistic mountain terrain will find this asset versatile for establishing a specific time-of-day atmosphere in site-specific architectural studies and cinematic exterior shots.
