About this asset

This 2K equirectangular HDRI environment map captures an overcast snowy field with soft, diffused lighting and a subtle horizon glow. The environment map features a vast, open landscape covered in patchy snow, revealing patches of dark, exposed earth throughout the terrain. Footprints are visible in the foreground, adding natural texture to the ground plane. The sky is dominated by a heavy, uniform layer of grey clouds, creating soft, low-contrast illumination suitable for architectural renders requiring cool, ambient winter light. A thin, brighter strip along the horizon line suggests a distant break in the cloud cover, providing a gentle directional hint for placement in a 3D scene.

The download is a 5.4 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment into your rendering workflow, load the HDR file into your software's world or environment lighting slot. Because it is an equirectangular projection, it will map seamlessly onto a spherical environment background. Adjust the rotation to align the horizon glow with your primary camera view to achieve optimal lighting consistency. As a 2K map, it is best suited for medium-distance exterior shots or as a background plate where high-resolution fine detail in the distance is not the primary focus.

This HDRI is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations requiring a realistic, overcast winter atmosphere. It works well for residential projects situated in rural or field-based contexts, providing a neutral, diffused light that prevents harsh shadows. Professionals will find this asset useful when looking for winter-themed environment maps, snowy landscape backgrounds, or soft, ambient lighting for exterior scenes. It pairs effectively with seasonal vegetation assets and cold-weather architectural materials, helping to establish a credible, atmospheric sense of place in any project phase.
