About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides soft sunrise lighting for architectural visualisations in an urban square. The environment map captures a wide-angle, 360-degree view of a public urban plaza during the early morning. The scene features a prominent historic red-brick building, mature trees, and a clear, expansive sky. The lighting is soft and diffuse, characteristic of sunrise, with cool blue tones dominating the shadows and subtle warm highlights catching the architectural details of the surroundings. The ground plane consists of paved surfaces, providing a neutral base for placing 3D objects. This high-dynamic-range image includes the full range of light intensity required for realistic global illumination in a rendering engine.

The download is a 5.6 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this map into a rendering workflow, load the file into the environment slot of your chosen software. Use the HDR data to drive the primary light source for your scene, ensuring the orientation aligns with your project's sun position for consistent shadow casting. Since this is an equirectangular projection, it maps seamlessly onto a spherical background, providing both the background plate and the necessary lighting information to achieve realistic reflections and ambient occlusion on your 3D assets.

This environment map is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations requiring a realistic urban context. It works well for projects situated in European city centres or public squares, providing a naturalistic backdrop that pairs effectively with modern or historic building models. Professionals can use this for early-stage conceptual renders or final presentation imagery where a soft, non-intrusive morning light is desired. It is a versatile tool for designers looking to quickly establish a sense of place and time in their exterior scenes.
