About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides natural, overcast lighting for exterior scenes, featuring a riverside field. The environment captures a wide, open landscape beside a river, defined by dormant, brownish-green grasses and sparse, late-autumn vegetation. The lighting is soft and diffuse, typical of an overcast sky, which minimises harsh shadows while maintaining high-contrast highlights near the sun's position behind thin cloud cover. Bare trees and shrubs frame the horizon, providing natural depth and varied silhouettes. The ground plane shows subtle tire tracks and uneven terrain, offering a realistic base for architectural visualisations that require a quiet, naturalistic outdoor setting without the distraction of intense direct sunlight.

The download is a 6.2 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this.hdr file into the environment slot of your preferred 3D rendering engine. The equirectangular projection ensures seamless mapping across the scene's background and global illumination. Adjust the exposure and rotation to align the sun's position with your primary light sources or camera view. For optimal results, use this map in conjunction with a shadow catcher plane to ground your 3D assets accurately within the riverside environment, ensuring reflections on glass and metal surfaces remain consistent with the natural lighting.

This HDRI is well-suited for exterior architectural renders that require a calm, rural, or semi-wild setting. It pairs effectively with residential projects, park design, or landscape architecture visualisations where a temperate riverside atmosphere is desired. Professionals searching for natural lighting, site-specific background plates, or realistic outdoor illumination will find this map useful for mid-day or afternoon scenes. It provides a neutral, versatile backdrop that integrates easily into various project stages, from initial massing studies to final high-fidelity marketing imagery for rural developments.
