About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides a moody, overcast night scene of a European town square with wet reflective paving. The environment map captures a wide, expansive town square at night, dominated by a large, classic-style Rathaus building. The scene features a wet, reflective stone-paved ground that effectively catches the warm, diffuse glow from multiple street lamps. The sky is a heavy, overcast grey, creating a soft, ambient light that contrasts with the bright, focused illumination of the architectural facade. The composition is balanced and symmetrical, offering a realistic depiction of a European civic space after hours. The lighting palette is primarily warm, with golden-yellow artificial light set against cool, dark, and neutral architectural tones.

The download is a 6.5 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI in your rendering engine, load the.hdr file into your environment or world lighting slot. Adjust the exposure settings within your render software to balance the intensity of the street lamps against the ambient night sky. For optimal results, ensure your scene's ground plane is set to a reflective material, which will allow the HDRI to cast accurate reflections of the square's lights onto your model's surfaces, enhancing the overall realism of the night-time composition.

This HDRI is well-suited for architectural visualisations requiring a sophisticated, moody, or atmospheric urban backdrop. It is ideal for exterior renderings of civic buildings, hospitality projects, or residential developments located in historic city centres. Use this asset when you need to simulate the look of a wet European plaza at night, particularly for projects that benefit from the contrast between warm street lighting and a cool, dark environment. It pairs seamlessly with modern or classical architectural styles, providing a grounded, realistic context for exterior shots.
