Overcast Field HDRI 061 a

Overcast Field HDRI 061 A is a 2K high-dynamic-range environment map providing diffused natural lighting for architectural renders. This environment map captures a wide, open agricultural field under a heavy, overcast sky. The lighting is soft and diffuse, characteristic of a cloudy day, which eliminates harsh shadows and provides neutral, even illumination across any 3D scene. The horizon line is relatively flat, making it suitable for placing buildings or objects in a rural or open-field setting. The capture includes a full 360-degree spherical range, ensuring that reflections on metallic or glossy surfaces appear consistent with the ambient light conditions of the cloudy environment shown in the reference spheres.

The download is a 9.2 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this HDRI file directly into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because it contains high-dynamic-range data, it will automatically handle both the ambient illumination and the background plate. Adjust the rotation to align the horizon and light direction with your project requirements. For best results, ensure your renderer is set to interpret the file as an environment map for global illumination, allowing the soft, overcast light to generate realistic indirect lighting and ambient occlusion.

Ideal for architectural visualisations that require a subdued, natural atmosphere, this map works well for exterior residential renders or landscape design projects where direct sunlight is not desired. It provides a realistic backdrop for projects situated in rural or agricultural areas. Professionals often use this type of overcast lighting to achieve a clean, professional look in early-stage design presentations or for mood-focused renders where clear blue skies would be a distraction. It pairs effectively with natural timber and stone material palettes.
