About this asset

This 2K high-dynamic-range environment map provides realistic overcast daylight illumination and reflections for 3D architectural scenes. Captured at a beach, this 2K HDRI environment map features a diffuse, overcast sky with soft, muted lighting conditions. The panoramic capture includes a wide, flat sandy landscape, creating a neutral and natural backdrop suitable for exterior visualisations. The soft light quality minimises harsh shadows, making it ideal for scenes requiring balanced, uniform illumination. The file provides a consistent light source and high-quality reflection data, ensuring that metallic and reflective surfaces in the 3D scene interact naturally with the surrounding environment, maintaining visual cohesion across the entire rendered output.

The download is a 7.2 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this environment map into the background or environment slot of your preferred rendering engine. Adjust the rotation to align the soft, overcast light with the desired orientation of your architectural project. Because it is a high-dynamic-range file, it will provide both ambient light and realistic reflections without the need for additional artificial light rigs. Ensure the exposure is set appropriately to capture the subtle tonal range of the cloudy sky.

This HDRI is well-suited for exterior architectural visualisations, particularly for projects located in coastal or open, flat landscapes. It provides a realistic, non-distracting background for residential or hospitality developments where soft natural lighting is required to highlight material textures and building forms. Architects and visualisers frequently utilise such overcast maps to simulate temperate, grey-sky conditions, which are often preferred for their even light distribution and lack of intense glare, ensuring clear visibility of architectural details in both concept and final renders.
