About this asset

This HDRI environment map provides realistic overcast lake lighting for architectural visualisations, featuring a stone pier. The environment captures a calm, expansive lake scene from a stone pier. The foreground is composed of large, irregular stone paving slabs, providing a naturalistic base for architectural models. The mid-ground reveals a tranquil water surface with distant boat moorings and a soft, diffused horizon. Overhead, a dense layer of broken, light-grey clouds creates a soft, low-contrast illumination profile, ideal for avoiding harsh shadows in renders. The scene includes minimal signage elements, ensuring a clean, uncluttered backdrop suitable for various exterior project compositions and site-specific environmental integration.

The download is a 6.3 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this high-dynamic-range image into your renderer's environment or world lighting slot to drive global illumination and reflections. The equirectangular projection ensures seamless 360-degree coverage. Adjust the exposure and rotation parameters within your software to align the light source with your camera angle. Because the lighting is diffused and overcast, it serves as an excellent base for neutral, soft-shadow exterior renders, requiring minimal additional light sources to achieve a balanced, professional, and photorealistic look.

Ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, this environment map integrates well into waterfront residential, hospitality, or public landscape projects. It is particularly effective for scenes requiring a serene, natural atmosphere without the intensity of direct sunlight. Professionals can use this to ground models of yachts, piers, or lakeside dwellings. Search for this asset when you need to quickly establish a realistic, overcast daylight environment for site-specific renderings or when developing masterplan concepts for maritime or recreational urban developments.
