About this asset

Lythwood Terrace is an equirectangular HDR environment map featuring a soft overcast midday sky over a paved brick patio. This environment map captures a wide-angle, 360-degree view of a residential garden terrace. The scene is defined by a patterned brick floor that transitions into a sprawling green lawn, framed by mature trees with sprawling branches. A white building facade sits in the background, providing a neutral architectural anchor. The lighting is diffuse and cool, characteristic of an overcast day, which minimizes harsh shadows and creates a subtle, natural sheen on the paved surfaces. The composition provides a balanced, realistic backdrop suitable for exterior architectural visualisations requiring soft, ambient natural light.

The download is a 6.7 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the.hdr file into the world or environment lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because it is an equirectangular projection, it will map seamlessly onto the spherical background of your 3D scene. Adjust the rotation to align the primary light source with your project’s orientation. Use the file to generate global illumination, soft diffuse reflections, and consistent background imagery for exterior scenes, ensuring that the ambient lighting accurately reflects the overcast conditions of the original capture.

This environment is ideal for residential exterior visualisations, particularly those focusing on patios, garden spaces, or outdoor living areas. It pairs well with projects requiring a natural, serene, and slightly muted atmosphere. Professionals can use this map to establish a realistic sense of place for high-end landscaping designs or architectural proposals. The soft lighting profile makes it particularly effective for rendering scenes where sharp, direct sunlight would be distracting, allowing the focus to remain on the architectural materials and furniture details within the scene.
