About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides a high-contrast alpine winter scene for realistic outdoor lighting. Captured in a high-altitude alpine setting, this environment map features a frozen lake bed flanked by dense coniferous forests and distant snow-capped peaks. The lighting represents a clear midday condition with a bright, high-altitude sun, casting crisp shadows and providing a neutral, cool-toned ambient light. The foreground reveals rocky terrain and dormant vegetation, transitioning into the icy expanse of the lake. This high-dynamic-range file ensures accurate light distribution for 3D scenes, capturing the specific quality of light found in mountain environments during late winter or early spring transitions.

The download is a 6.2 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this equirectangular HDR file into your rendering engine's environment or world lighting slot to provide both global illumination and background reflections. Because the map contains high-dynamic-range data, it will drive realistic shadow intensity and specular highlights on reflective surfaces within your scene. Adjust the rotation to align the sun position with your architectural geometry, and tweak the exposure settings in your render output to balance the intensity of the sky against your foreground elements.

This environment is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations requiring a natural, cold-weather setting. It is well-suited for projects located in mountainous regions, ski resorts, or remote cabins where realistic, high-contrast outdoor lighting is essential. Professionals will find it useful for daylight studies and final renders where a crisp, clean atmosphere is needed. The map pairs effectively with winter-themed vegetation and rugged landscape materials, providing a convincing backdrop for residential or hospitality developments set within expansive, natural, and open-air environments.
