About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides a soft sunrise lighting profile for 3D scenes featuring a European canal. The environment map captures a symmetrical urban canal scene during the early morning. A stone bridge railing occupies the foreground, leading the eye towards tree-lined banks and classical architecture. The light is soft and diffused, characteristic of a sunrise with a partly cloudy sky, offering a balanced dynamic range for realistic scene illumination. The colour palette is dominated by cool blue tones in the sky, contrasted by the warm, earthy browns of the autumnal trees and the neutral grey of the stone masonry and pavement.

The download is a 6.1 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this.hdr file into the environmental lighting slot of your preferred 3D rendering engine. It functions as a global light source, providing both the background plate and the primary illumination for your scene. Adjust the rotation to align the soft morning sun with your project's light requirements. The 2K resolution is suitable for background integration, while the high-dynamic-range data ensures accurate reflections and soft shadow casting on your 3D models.

This environment is ideal for architectural visualisations requiring a calm, European urban aesthetic. It works effectively for exterior residential or commercial projects situated near water features or historical city centres. Use this map in early-stage design presentations or final renders when a temperate, morning atmosphere is needed to complement architectural materials like stone, glass, and metal. It pairs well with projects seeking a natural, non-directional light quality that avoids harsh shadows, common in urban planning and streetscape design studies.
