About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic midday lighting for 3D scenes, featuring a partly cloudy sky. The environment map captures a high-contrast, natural scene from a rocky, grass-covered hillside. The lighting conditions represent a midday sun, softened by a light scattering of clouds across a bright blue sky. The foreground is dominated by textured, sun-drenched rocky terrain, transitioning into a distant, lush green valley and residential landscape. This panoramic capture offers a balanced range of light, providing crisp, directional highlights from the sun alongside softer, diffuse illumination from the sky coverage. The resulting lighting setup creates a naturalistic atmosphere suitable for outdoor architectural visualisations and landscape renderings.

The download is a 6.1 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this file, load the equirectangular HDR image into the environment slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the exposure and rotation to align the sun position with your scene geometry, ensuring the primary light source matches the shadows cast by your 3D models. Because the map contains high dynamic range data, it will effectively illuminate your scene and provide realistic reflections on surfaces without requiring additional light sources for the sky.

This HDRI is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, particularly for projects located in rural or suburban environments. It pairs well with landscape architecture designs, residential developments, and outdoor recreational areas where a natural, sunlit aesthetic is required. Architects and visualisers searching for high-quality, realistic site lighting will find this useful for achieving accurate shadow direction and ambient colour grading. It is suitable for projects at any stage, from concept massing to final high-fidelity marketing renders, helping to anchor buildings firmly within their natural context.
