About this asset

This 2K equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic dawn lighting for architectural renders, featuring a rocky landscape. The environment map captures a low-contrast dawn scene over arid, rocky hilltops. The composition features a textured foreground of weathered boulders and sparse desert vegetation, transitioning into rolling hills under a soft, partly cloudy sky. The lighting palette is defined by a subtle warm glow at the horizon, contrasted against cool, diffused blue ambient light across the sky dome. This balance creates a soft, natural illumination suitable for exterior scenes, providing a realistic background and accurate global illumination data without harsh direct sunlight or high-intensity highlights.

The download is a 6.3 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this.hdr file into the environment or background slot of your preferred rendering engine. It functions as a complete light source, providing both the visual background and the dome light for reflections and global illumination. Adjust the exposure and rotation parameters within your software to align the horizon line and intensity with your specific camera angle and scene requirements. This file is optimised for rapid testing and iteration within 3D workflows, offering a lightweight alternative to full-resolution assets.

This environment map is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, landscape design projects, and rural residential concepts. It pairs well with natural building materials like stone, concrete, or timber, providing a consistent lighting environment for daylight studies or atmospheric dusk renders. Professionals can use this for wide-angle exterior shots where a sense of place is required without complex geometry. It is particularly effective for projects located in arid or semi-desert climates, helping to ground the 3D model within a convincing, naturalistic setting.
