About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides a calm sunset sky with soft, partly cloudy transitions for realistic lighting. Captured at dusk, this environment map features a clear, expansive sky with a low sun casting a warm, subtle glow across a cool blue horizon. The visual information is balanced, offering a clean, unobstructed background that is ideal for architectural visualisations requiring a serene, natural atmosphere. The cloud formations are light and wispy, providing enough texture to create interesting reflections on glass or metallic surfaces without overwhelming the scene. Its composition ensures that the light source is distinct, allowing for accurate shadow placement and natural colour temperature shifts in any 3D environment.

The download is a 3.9 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this map into your workflow, load the file into the environment or world background slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the rotation to align the sun position with your scene's desired shadow direction. Since this is an equirectangular image, it maps seamlessly onto a spherical dome, providing consistent 360-degree illumination. You may need to tweak the exposure settings or white balance within your render engine to achieve the exact intensity needed for your specific interior or exterior project requirements.

Use this environment map for exterior renders, wide-angle architectural shots, or interior scenes where a view of the horizon is visible through large windows or glazing. It pairs effectively with modern or industrial architectural styles, providing a quiet, contemplative backdrop that does not distract from the primary building form. Professionals often employ this type of sky for dusk-time presentations, hospitality design visualisations, and urban development projects where a soft, non-aggressive lighting solution is necessary to convey a specific time of day and mood.
