About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic midday lighting for exterior architectural visualisations. Captured from a high vantage point, this 2K HDR environment map features a rugged, sun-drenched hilltop terrain. The foreground consists of exposed, warm-toned rocky outcrops interspersed with dry, sparse vegetation and scrub. The horizon showcases a sweeping view of a distant lake and valley, punctuated by subtle radio towers. The lighting is characteristic of a clear, bright midday sun, casting high-contrast shadows across the textured landscape. This map provides a full 360-degree panoramic background suitable for wide-angle exterior shots where a natural, elevated perspective is required for context.

The download is a 6.3 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the.hdr file directly into your rendering engine's world or background lighting environment slot. Adjust the rotation to align the sun position with your scene's primary light source for consistent shadow casting. While the file provides an immediate background, consider using it as an image-based lighting source to influence global illumination, reflections, and ambient occlusion passes in your final render, ensuring the scene's materials react correctly to the warm, high-intensity sunlight.

Ideal for architectural projects requiring realistic site context, this map works well for residential developments, landscape design, or hospitality projects located in rural or hilly environments. Professionals can use this for exterior renders of modern dwellings or remote retreats where a natural, elevated backdrop is essential. It pairs effectively with scenes featuring stone cladding, timber decking, or minimalist structures that benefit from harsh, direct sunlight. Search for this when creating realistic site-specific visualisations or testing material responses to natural, unfiltered daylight conditions.
