About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic twilight lighting for architectural renders featuring a waterfront. Captured at a waterfront promenade, this 360-degree environment map features a high-contrast lighting setup. The scene balances the deep blue tones of a post-sunset twilight sky with the warm, intense glow of artificial street lighting reflecting off the calm water surface. The composition includes modern mid-rise residential architecture and a distant church spire, providing a dense urban backdrop. This file captures a full dynamic range, ensuring that both the bright light sources and the deep shadows in the environment are represented accurately for realistic global illumination in 3D scenes.

The download is a 5.4 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the.hdr file into the world or environment slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the exposure or intensity values to match the scale of your scene, ensuring the bright artificial light sources provide appropriate highlights on materials. If using a shadow catcher, align the map's horizon line with your ground plane to maintain perspective consistency. This map is ideal for setting the base mood and providing natural reflections for exterior or semi-exterior architectural visualisations.

This environment is well-suited for exterior visualisations of residential blocks, hospitality projects, or mixed-use developments located near water. It works effectively for evening or night-time renderings where artificial lighting needs to interact with a realistic, complex urban backdrop. Professionals can use this to create atmospheric, high-end presentations that require a specific twilight mood. It pairs well with modern glass-heavy facades and metal-clad structures, where the warm street lamp reflections and cool ambient sky light will enhance the material depth and overall visual interest.
